Who it fits best

Best fit: K–2 classrooms, homeschool groups, libraries and families willing to facilitate structured lessons. One kit is designed for four learners, so a single-child household is paying for classroom-oriented hardware and curriculum capacity.

Skip if: you want inexpensive independent play. A smaller coding robot or screen-free sequencing toy is usually a better value for one child.

What the K–2 progression actually teaches

The current six-unit sequence covers Basics, Hardware, Events, Sequences, Loops and AI & Data. That gives 45520 a more coherent progression than a box of disconnected coding activities: students move from ordered steps to physical inputs and outputs, then into repeated code and introductory classification.

Some lessons require a laptop, Chromebook or iPad for Coding Canvas, while some activities are screen-free. LEGO Education says one device is needed per group of four students. Teachers need an internet-connected computer to access Teacher Portal resources and display lesson materials.
