What children do
The adventure centers on following a map toward a shipwreck, moving the mast to uncover treasure, and using Eevee and Lapras in water-themed storytelling. LEGO says Lapras has moving flippers while Eevee has adjustable ears and tail.
What the three SMART Tags add
Eevee, Lapras and the treasure each contain a SMART Tag. When a SMART Brick is brought in from an All-in-One set, those tags can trigger responsive sounds and lights, including treasure-search and celebration effects. Without a Brick, the physical build remains playable but the electronic layer stays inactive.
Is a phone required?
No phone or tablet is required for the core SMART Play interaction once a Brick is available. Adults may use the SMART Assist app for support and firmware updates. This is responsive electronic play, not a generative AI toy.
Best fit
Choose 72162 for an Eevee/Lapras fan who prefers exploration, treasure and storytelling over a head-to-head battle. At $59.99 it is less expensive than several larger expansions, but first-time SMART Play buyers must still account for the separate Brick requirement.

Verdict
Eevee & Lapras is one of the stronger story-driven expansions. It is a good second set after Pikachu or Charizard/Jolteon, and a reasonable standalone physical build if the child does not care about the electronic layer.
